- Solid and engineered hardwood installation (nail-down, glue-down, or float, matched to species and plank width)
- Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and luxury vinyl tile (LVT) installation — waterproof lines for baths, kitchens, and laundry
- Subfloor assessment, leveling, and repair (high spots ground, low spots built up, damaged sections replaced)
- Transition strips at thresholds, doorways, and material changes — T-moulding, reducers, and end caps fitted clean
- Baseboard, quarter-round, and casing tie-ins — existing trim re-set so the new floor reads as original to the room
When to call Charles
The hardwood original to the house has gaps that catch your socks, the laminate in the living room is cupping in the corners where a spill never fully dried, the vinyl plank you put down yourself a few years back is delaminating at the seams — those are exactly the calls I take. They’re not the kind of project that pulls a permit, but they’re the kind that makes the rest of the room feel worn when they should feel solid.
Water damage is the other big one — a fridge line that let go, a dishwasher that leaked under the floor, a bath vanity that let a slow drip run underneath the tile. The visible floor can usually be replaced; what needs to be checked first is the subfloor underneath, and the answer depends on what’s there once the planks come up.
And the dated floor you keep apologizing for — the orange-toned laminate from the early 2000s, the dark carpet stretched tight over a hardwood that’s still good underneath, the broken tile in the entry — those are the calls most folks put off for a year before they finally pick up the phone. New-room builds are the same shape from the other end: a subfloor that needs leveling before the cabinets land, a slab that needs moisture testing before the planks go down.
